DAY 27

Trying Something New

I decided to walk today. I started off running, but almost tripped over Tosh and fell on the road. My knees also really hurt - walking seems to be a good idea. I walked 2 1/2 miles - ran about 1/2 a mile. I think it took about an hour...let's face it, my fast walking is just about equal to my slow running. Overall, this is kinder to my knees and easier for Tosh.

DAY 15

RAN: 1 1/2 miles

One-and-a-half miles in 21 minutes...I'm getting there!

I ran without Tosh today, both because he was a bit more wound up than usual and because I ran later than I normally do - I did not want either Tosh to have to deal with the mailman or the mailman to have to deal with Tosh. This was both good and bad - good as I did not have to expend energy getting Toshie back in line and bad as I did not get to slow down here-and-there while I got Toshie back in line.

DAY 11

Continuing to run one mile - taking from 14-17 minutes, depending on my energy, the wind level and TOSH!

Have added flabby arm exercises. I want to look nice in a sleeveless dress on August 1st.

DAY 7

Ran: 1 MILE!!

Took me 15 minutes, but I RAN ONE MILE! I think I'll stay on this distance for a bit; I'd like to get a good time before moving on - so I don't completely pass-out when finished - but I did accomplish baby step #2.

Tosh was extremely unhappy about the one dog he cannot tolerate. There are numerous canines on our route, but there is a particular barker that he HATES. I almost fell over him as he tried his best to tear down the fence to get to the critter.

NOTE: EAT something before running - maybe 45 minutes or so prior to leaving.

TO DO: Find a different route to avoid the dog mentioned above.

BABY STEP: Run 1 1/2 miles by Friday, April 10th.

DAY 5

Ran: 3/4 mile

11 minutes - added a 1/4 mile - will do 3/4 for two more days then try for the full mile on Friday. I hope that I can accomplish that - an extra quarter mile darn near kicked my butt!

DAY 3

Ran: 1/2 mile

8 MINUTES!! Cut my time in 1/2, and reached the first baby step.

Baby Step: Run 1 mile by Friday, March 27th.
